Bottleneck is a chaotic physical game for 30+ players. The goal is to find the perfect teammates to complete tasks before anyone else. But watch out! If you’re in a car crash, becoming a patient can really set you back. This boisterous group game is designed as a playful intervention about road safety for humanitarian and development conferences.
Bottleneck (originally called Wreck City) was designed for Fleet Forum to play at humanitarian conferences. It’s hard to compete for attention when flashier issues like AIDS and world hunger are also being discussed. The boisterous, fun intervention gets unsuspecting aid officials considering the issue of road safety. The game has also been used to introduce road safety issues to the general public at events like the Come Out and Play Festival.
I worked on all the visual design for the game, including illustrations and graphic design. Ben Norskov and I collaborated on the game design.
